L.A. Board: Ban Plastic Bags!
Next week, on Nov. 16, the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors will vote on whether or not to ban plastic shopping bags. Nothing we use for 5 minutes should be allowed to pollute for 500 years. Every year California uses 19 billion plastic bags and 160,000 tons of take out Styrofoam containers. Los Angeles alone uses 6 billion bags. Most of this is ending up in our landfills and ocean.
Blah, blah, blah......wasn't it just a few years ago that we "banned" paper bags to Save The Trees! What's up with that? Was somebody wrong? Did I miss the apology??
George Carlin uses common sense and addresses the issue far better than I can.
