"If anything can go wrong, it will"
Ahhhh........ Murphy's Law. Did you know Murphy's lesser known dictums?
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
He who laughs last, thinks slowest
Those who live by the sword get shot by those who don't.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
An optimist is never pleasantly surprised.
Smart guy, that Murphy.

Cheney says Democrats soft on national security
Mon Sep 25, 2006 2:29 PM ET
MILWAUKEE (Reuters) - Vice President Dick Cheney on Monday accused Democrats of being soft in the war on terrorism with a strategy of "resignation and defeatism in the face of determined enemies."
and (ya can't make this stuff up!) right on cue in chimes good ole Democrat Charlie Rangel promising to cut off funding for the war in Iraq when dems win the House. The Hill
Resigning from the war........I guess they will be soooooo busy impeaching Bush that a war on terror will have to wait.

BLOVIATING BUBBA ......
Chris Wallace on FOX News got the finger from ex-president Bill yesterday. The last time we had his finger waived at us involved Monica..."I did not have sex with...."
Then we learned he has worked harder than any president to get bin Laden, um okay, the list includes Kennedy, Trueman, Chester A. Arthur and of course, Lincoln.
Republicans had 8 months to get bin Laden.....and Clinton had eight years....hmmm lemme see... 8 months > 8 years. My 7 year old can handle that one.
The whole performance by Bubba brings to mind that other great bloviator......"The Great and Powerful Oz!"

F-14 Tomcat Retired
As reported by Mike Gooding:
"The F-14 Tomcat was forever immortalized in American pop culture in the 1986 movie "Top Gun." The movie featured unforgettable characters with names like "Maverick," "Viper," and "Iceman," and lines of dialogue like, "I feel the need for speed." In short, it was cool."
Way cool, indeed! Go here for the rest of the story..........

Rangel Slams Chavez…
Representative Charlie Rangel (Dem NY) is criticizing Venezuelan President for Life Hugo Chavez for his comments on “our” president. Rangel a noted critic of my president took offense that some foreigner was barging in on his turf. Later in what can only be described as an amazing coincidence, Nancy Pelosi also attacked Chavez for his comments in Harlem.
Say what you will about these two hucksters, (well, okay, three) I am still waiting for a Republican to step up and slam this little thug from south of the border. Word is that the Republicans have formed a committee and will have a statement within the next few weeks….don’t hold your breath.
Update....the slumbering giant awakens.
Republicans have finally decided to get on board and denounce the tin pot dictator from Venezuela for being a, well, tin pot dictator. (Boehner and Santorum comments are available at NRO) The impact on the Main Stream Media lovefest with Rangel/Pelosi will no doubt suffer as they have to credit Republicans for defending Bush. About time.
Now, will Rangel/Pelosi have any comments the next time Jimmah Carter begins to yap about what should be. Me thinks not. Therein lies the difference.

This ain't right........
From the Honolulu Star Bulletin:
The "Dog" spent last night in the federal pound.
Duane "Dog" Chapman, the well-known bounty hunter made even more famous by his A&E reality show, was arrested yesterday at his Portlock Road residence in connection with his June 2003 capture of convicted rapist and Max Factor heir Andrew Luster in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Also arrested in different locations were his son Leland and partner, Timothy Chapman.
http://starbulletin.com/2006/09/15/news/story01.html
Apparently, things have been a little slow in the US Attorney office in Honolulu. The Big Kahuna out there, Edward H. Kubo, Jr., figured that the use of YOUR tax dollars to capture the "Dog" and extradite him to that bastion of treaty enforcement, Mexico, would be the proper thing to do. So.....did he call him up and say "Hey Dog we got a warrant". Nope. Why do that when we got all these federal marshall sitting around with their new homeland security gear. They raided his house in the early morning. So much for being a TV star in Hawaii. They snatched the Dog as he was making breakfast for his kiddies. Way to go Ed. Job well done. I will sleep better tonight.
In seemingly unrelated news, 1.2 million "undocumented" humans slipped over the border in the southern United States from Mexico last year. The Treaty of Guadalupe Hildago was unavailable for comment.

How low will it go?
Gas prices are heading downward as we get close to the fall elections. The elk in ANWAR are breathing a sigh of relief.
I am wondering if someone, (anyone?) will be warning the guys at "Big Oil" that winter is coming so they can stockpile some heating oil for the season. Perhaps we could forego the litany of headlines in November lamenting the increase in fuel costs because winter came, again, right on schedule.

It's okay to asssasinate Bush in a movie, but..........
From the Evening Standard
"Breakfast food company Kellogg's has come under fire from animal lovers furious about a television advert showing a man riding a dog like a horse.
Nearly 100 complaints have been made against the new Crunchy Nut Cornflakes advert, which shows a very small man finishing work and riding home on the back of an Irish Wolfhound.
Dog lovers say the behaviour in the scene is cruel and could be copied by children."
Crunchy nuts, indeed.
