Best of Luck Stevie.

THE captain has left the team.  It will be announced today that Steve Yzermen will be named General Manager of the Tampa Bay Lightening.  The Hall of Fame player and longtime Detroit captain, is leaving his job in the Red Wings front office for the Lightning.

Greatest Captain ever.  Thanks for the memories and best of luck with the Lightening.

I was going to buy a book on phobias, but I was afraid it wouldn't help me.

There was once a cross-eyed teacher who couldn't control his pupils.

Monday's Pun(s)

A man was driving on an icy, abandoned road when he noticed a road sign with half of it torn clean off. 'That's a bad sign' he thought to himself.

We were going to ship a truck load of food, but we found it just wasn't palatable.

What do you call a melon that's not allowed to get married? Can't elope.

Y'all know that right?

Thank a soldier for their service. Buy them a cuppa, pay a bridge toll or just stop and say "Thanks".
Good On Ya!

Jessica Watson sailed her mighty pink boat around the world.  She arrived home yesterday, docking at the Sidney Opera house.  A 16-year-old Australian who spent seven months at sea sailed across the finish line of her round-the-world journey Saturday, becoming the youngest sailor to circle the globe solo, nonstop and unassisted.
Read that again...circle the globe, solo, nonstop and unassisted....  Holy Jumpin!  What has your 16 year old done of late?  Yeah, mine either.

What a great accomplishment.  Welcome home!

Read the Bill?

We don't need to read no stinkin bill....

Senatorial candidate John "I'm Not A Maverick" McCain, is in a tough race with my olde pal JD Hayworth.  JD has written books and speak frequently about sealing the border.  So, the Maverick McCain releases an ad stating he has been tough on immigration.  Really?  Jaw droppingly wrong, patent pandering.

Recall, McCain is the guy that sponsored the last immigration/amnesty bill with his protege Sen. Lindsey Gramnesty.   This is not a flip flop....its a flop.  So here they are discussing it on the Morning Joe.  Even Arizona congressman John Shaddeg is laughing at McCain.

You should be too!

Whoa!!

Great Merciful Zeus: Ann Coulter Might Just Turn Us Straight!!

Indeed....

Alert tee-shirt vendors and the NYPD can’t be everywhere.

The Department of Homeland Security’s best strategy for keeping Americans safe should not be to “hope Muslims’ bombs fail” or depend upon alert civilians to spot smoke coming from cars or people’s underpants.

Since Muslims are just about the only group of people currently trying to kill Americans, perhaps a security policy at airports should be directed towards preventing Muslims from murdering people.

Now, for just a moment, appreciate the Bizarroworld we currently live in:
(1) We are gay guys in Boystown who, until 2008, detested Ann Coulter
(2) We are now reading Ann Coulter
(3) We agree with every damn word Ann Coulter says
(4) Sometimes, we think we’ve actually moved to the right of Ann Coulter
It’s Change we might not be able to believe in, but change the current DNC and White House forced upon on.

Great little article.  Follow the Link and read the whole enchilada.  I love Ann.

Scouts!

If you have been to camp you have met this guy.

Hmmmmmm....

This weekend on Phoenix’ KFYI, radio host Terry Gilberg interviewed Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu. During the interview, he conveyed a remarkable statistic:

Last month alone, just in one patrol region, we had sixty-four pursuits. That means people who were driving a vehicle, failed to yield, took off like a bat out of hell, running red lights, creating traffic wrecks, numerous people were killed in these wrecks over the last several months, and who are these people? Not one of them was a U.S. citizen.

Prolly just a staistical anomaly. Yeah, an anomaly. That's it.

Tom Watson

Good article that discusses his long career in golf.  Here is a tidbit that caught my eye.

“I'm a great believer in the truism that, if you are not liberal when you are 19, there is something wrong with your heart, and that if you are not conservative when you are 40, then there is something wrong with your head,” Watson said.

Obama's Katrina

Why has it taken 8 days to mobilize the Feds?

and, and, and the Justice Department???  WTH are a bunch of lawyers gonna do?

 Hmmmmmmm...?

Now, let me get this straight.....The Democrats passed a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn't read it, but exempts themselves from it, to be signed by a President, that also hasn't read it, and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief, who didn't pay his taxes…all to be overseen by a surgeon general, who is obese, and financed by a country, that's nearly broke.

And the American public is against it? Weird…

Hudler's Coming Back!

Detroit Red Wings forward Jiri Hudler will return to the team next season.  Hudler spent the past season with the now defunct Moscow Dynamo....$5 million large can do that to a fella.

Now Happy is heading home to Detroit and will play out his two year, $2.85 million per contract.

NO toy for YOU!

The Happy Meal Nazi's have struck in Santa Clara.  Once again the clarity of thought that is thankfully indigenous to the Bay Area provides help for the weak, downtrodden, chillern who are being coerced in to buying fast food.  Yes, being enticed by a low grade, plastic, POS toy from China is the reason our youth are pleasantly plump.

Dr. Dan Delgado, director of a county program that targets childhood obesity, said the toys are a powerful lure for children, encouraging them to eat unhealthy food, which then helps cause obesity.

Which, of course, leads to low self esteem, poor dental hygeine,  glowball warming, rickets, lumpuckeroo of the blowhole and bad laws in Arizona.

Once again,we have been saved from ourselves.  Praise the Lord, pass the ammunition.
The Temple of Ted

Lyin of the Senate!

Your tax dollars at work.  Ted "The Swimmer" Kennedy will be getting yet another monument to his largesse.

The federal taxpayer is on the hook for more than $38.3 million for the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate. The planned center will be a neighbor to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and, as its name suggests, will promote the career of the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy. Senator John Kerry and Congressman Ed Markey of Massachusetts slipped the earmarks into the federal budgets for defense and education, among other departments.

The duo seeks an additional $30 million from next year's budget, which would push the Temple of Ted's take from the taxpayer to more than $68 million. Both complexes, distant from the UMass-Boston MBTA stop, will undoubtedly accrue millions of dollars more in subsidies via free shuttle-bus trips. It is unclear, what, if any, federal capital will pour into the Institute following these initial subsidies.

Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what your country can do for the Kennedys.

Mary Jo Kopechne remains unavailable for comment.

Facts

Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.  Following a Constitution is deemed racist when it does not fit your game plan.  The Obama Regime has a game plan. Using the recently passed law in Arizona is proving to be a useful tool.  Facts and Constitutions be damned.  Andrew McCarthy opines on the Arizona law here.  Smart guy that Andy...you should read the whole thing.

At the southern border, however, the federal government has forfeited its power. As a result, Arizonans are imperiled by Mexico’s brutally violent warring factions. They are crushed economically as the magnet effect of our unsustainable welfare state falls disproportionately on their schools, hospitals, jails, and pocketbooks, to the tune of nearly $2 billion per year.

Arizona is a sovereign state. Its citizens have a natural right to defend themselves, particularly when the federal government surrenders. The state’s new law does precisely that, in a measured way that comes nowhere close to invoking the necessary, draconian powers Leviathan has but refuses to use.

Demagogues are smearing Arizona’s immigration law as “racial profiling” because it endorses police inquiries into the validity of a person’s presence in the United States. The claim could not be more specious. The law does not give police any new basis to stop and detain someone. Police may not inquire into immigration status unless they have a “lawful” basis for stopping the person in the first place. And even then, the police officer must have “reasonable suspicion” before attempting to determine whether the person is lawfully present. And that suspicion must be generated by something beyond race and ethnicity — as Byron York notes, the law expressly says these may not be the sole factors.

The law is clearly constitutional. Yet the Obama administration, having buried unconsenting Americans under avalanches of debt and inscrutable, unconstitutional mega-statutes, is mulling a court challenge, casting its lot with lawless aliens against besieged Arizonans.

A government destructive of our citizens’ basic rights to know, to determine, and to have the protection of the law cannot endure. This one will not. The only question is how much more damage we will allow it to do.
BOYCOTT!

The lefties are in full bloom in the Arizona desert.  The basis for  their rage is the recently passed law allowing the police to inquire as to the nation of origin of the folks that it lawfully stops.  Charges of racism abound.  Boycott Arizona is their rallying cry.

One item focused on is Arizona brand ice teas.  BOYCOTT !  that will show em.

Uno problemo, as my Spanish friends would say......it's made in New York.  Idiots.

Red Wings

Right now my favorite hockey team is winging their way westward on Red Wing One for the showdown in the desert.

The Wylie Koyotes have survived to play another day.  Time is up though as the 7 game series is tied at 3 a piece.

Wings are looking to kill the Yotes on home ice.  Not an easy task but, they are the Red Wings from Hockeytown.

Got em right where we want em.

Let's Go Red Wings !!!!!

Running Fast

Been busy before.  Work related.  Last few everything has combined in a perfect storm.  Couple basic life demand with the unending amount of asswittery (yup, its a word) that comes from president Zero, Our hero and it is hard to keep up with the Chronicles updates.  It is definitely more difficult to put together anything of substance.  I have always sought to have a mixture of insight and humor.  If it ain't fun, don't do it.

Of late I find myself laughing at the ongoing regime and crying over the long term impacts.  It's easier to go on Facebook and keep it light.  Couple that with work demands and watch the olde postings numbers drop accordingly.

My apologies to the loyal readers.  I'll be trying some new things over the next 60 days.  Let's see where it goes. To survive in these times ya gotta be fast.  It's harder to hit a moving target.
Monday's Pun(s) !!!

I dropped a tub of margarine in the kitchen and ended up with a Parkay floor.

The coffee tasted like mud because it was ground a couple of minutes ago.

The Measure of the Man

WSJ Online has forums.  There are some gold nuggets to be found. Here is an excerpt from "Article from the Wall Street Journal Forum by Eddie Sessions:"  You should read the whole thing.

I have this theory about Barack Obama. I think he’s led a kind of make-believe life in which money was provided and doors were opened because at some point early on somebody or some group took a look at this tall, good looking, half-white, half-black, young man with an exotic African/Muslim name and concluded he could be guided toward a life in politics where his facile speaking skills could even put him in the White House.
In a very real way, he has been a young man in a very big hurry. Who else do you know has written two memoirs before the age of 45? “Dreams of My Father” was published in 1995 when he was only 34 years old. The “Audacity of Hope” followed in 2006. If, indeed, he did write them himself. There are some who think that his mentor and friend, Bill Ayers, a man who calls himself a “communist with a small ‘c’” was the real author.

How many of your friends have written memoirs?  At 34?  Really?

Pompous Ass

A level of abject arrogance that knows no bounds.  president Zero, Our Hero responded to an inquiry about the Tea Party protests of April 15th by saying this....

"They should be saying thank you"
"
It just gets harder to write anything objectively about the guy.  He exhibits absolutely no leadership skills and brings nothing to the once vaunted office of the Presidency.   He is simply a pompous ass.

 Our Finest Hour?

It could be.  what's that phrase, carpe dium ? Perhaps......we can find our way

Like Mark Steyn, I view Barack Obama as “one of the most consequential presidents in history,” but not for the same reasons. In my view, he and today’s Democratic Party represent the last gasp of the Progressive impulse. The tyrannical ambition hidden at the heart of Progressivism’s quest for what Franklin Delano Roosevelt termed “rational administration” Barack Obama has made manifest; and to all with eyes to see, the danger that we have temporized with for nearly a century is now perfectly visible. As Obama himself has insisted in speech after speech, the moment in which we now live is a “defining moment.” What is required in what he calls “this defining moment” is what Abraham Lincoln once called “a new birth of freedom.” The period we just entered could be our finest hour.
