Four years ago today the President ventured forth on to the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln and used those words to signify that major combat operations in Iraq had ended. As Lex puts it:
That ceremony was intended to recognize the accomplishments of the crew of the USS Abraham Lincoln, a ship that had just returned from an exceptionally arduous 10-month deployment - the longest combat deployment of an aircraft carrier in decades.
Of course, it also signified the beginning of the Democrats attempts surrender to Al Quaeda. That effort reaches a crescendo today as the Democrat Leadership finally sends it's pork laden "War Spending" bill to the President for signing.
MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (AP) - Moving toward a veto of a war spending bill, President Bush said Tuesday that Democrats who made the legislation a showdown over withdrawing U.S. troops could turn Iraq into a "cauldron of chaos" with their approach.
"Success in Iraq is critical to the security of free people everywhere," Bush said at the headquarters of U.S. Central Command, which oversees military operations in the Middle East, including Iraq.
Congress was expected to send the bill to the president sometime Tuesday, and he planned to veto it either later in the day or early Wednesday.
Use the veto Mr. President. Stand tall for our troops and use the veto.
