Unemployment Rate Drops!

The unemployment figures are out (7.4 %) and the press is dancing around the maypole...USA! USA! USA!.

Except....these pesky little facts...

Labor Force Participation Rate.  The what?  C'mon Rumbear break it down. Well, head on over to Left Coast Rebel for a brief dissertation.

The labor participation rate had become startlingly anemic during the recession, and at those lower rates, it's easier to hide a bad recovery.  People are no longer looking for jobs and are therefore not counted,..

Get that?.... the number of folks looking for work is dropping dramatically.  Thus, the 7.4 % unemployment figure is achieved by utilizing a smaller overall number of job searchers from a year earlier.  Use the previous years job force figures and unemployment soars!  But, that does not fit the narrative of the current Regime.

Still think the unemployment is improving?  Splain this....
