Chicago, Illinois. You know the mantra...strictest gun control laws in the world....one of the highest murder rates in the country, if not world. Well, the Wizards of Smart realized it was back to school time and that the chillern might be in danger. What did they do?
Increase police patrol? Nope.
Armed escort? Nope.
Arm the citizens? Nope.
Arm school personnel? Nope.
Post signs about Gun Free zones? Nope. (already had em)
They created "Safe Passage Zones". Made up some fancy signs and had em posted around the hood. Criminals stay away this is a Safe Passage zone warned the sharp edged sign. They did it for the chillern.
Day 1 and the results are in....roll the tape, er, Sun Times....
The eyes of the city were on Chicago Public Schools
“Safe Passage” routes Monday morning as a 28-year-old man was shot
along one of the routes and a 14-year-old boy was shot to death near
another one, the day before school starts.
The 14-year-old boy was shot and killed within a
block of a welcoming elementary school, Melody Stem School , 3937 W.
Wilcox. It’s at least the third fatal shooting along or near a Safe
Passage route since mid-August.
About
12:20 a.m. Sunday, the boy, Lavander Hearnes, was standing outside in
the 4000 block of West Wilcox Street with several other people when he
was shot, authorities said.
He was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 9:04 a.m. Sunday, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.
So another failed Democratic attempt to avoid the obvious solution is notched in the handgun of a criminal who apparently refused to heed the sign. Yet, the parents don't seem to upset.
Some parents said shootings aren’t unexpected in
the neighborhood, while others weren’t ready to judge Chicago Public
Schools’ plans on the first day of school.
“I don’t really feel too threatened,” said Vicki
Brown, 29, a parent with two kids at Melody. “It’s a relative thing. You
can’t control the violence.”
You can't control violence. There is your quote of the day. Such is the mentality of an adult human with kids in Shitcago, that toddlin town.
and to think they mock Detroit....
