GOP presidential candidates to debate at Oakland University
Rochester— Oakland University will host a Republican presidential candidate debate Nov. 9 with a focus on the economy, jobs, taxes and the deficit, the university and CNBC announced Monday.
The debate will be broadcast from the campus from 8-10 p.m. exclusively on CNBC.
In an exuberant email Monday morning to faculty and staff, Oakland University President Gary Russi, who has been intent on raising the Rochester university's national profile, shared the positive news.
"Oakland University's reputation as one of the finest universities in the region went a long way toward us being chosen to host this important national event," Russi said in the email. "We can all share a great sense of pride that our public profile has increased to the point that we are a first-choice venue to host an event that showcases our university to the entire nation."
