Balls.

Patrick H. Caddell has been a hero of mine for a long time. Back when I was a wee lad studying poli sci and righting the wrongs of the world, old Patrick was mucking around on the McGovern campaign and had wide influence on Jimmy Carters campaign. The guy is brilliant. I mean look what he had to work with and ...well you get my drift. JIMMAH! became the 39th president. (1st Abject Failure of a President).

Now Pat was never a Kool Aide drinker of the Paul Begalla variety. He knew the course to get elected and took his clients there. As a pragmatist he has been lamenting the failed efforts of president Zero for some time. He long ago predicted the "shellacking" that just occurred, and has otherwise been a pain in the rear for the true believers of the Democratic Left. He has begged them to show restraint and promote longevity in office. They ignored him.

Well now he has really stepped in it. He has co signed a letter calling out president Zero to take one for the team and ...wait for it....NOT run in 2012. For the good of the world. One and Done.

Under these circumstances, Obama has the opportunity to seize the high ground and the imagination of the nation once again, and to galvanize the public for the hard decisions that must be made. The only way he can do so, though, is by putting national interests ahead of personal or political ones.

To that end, we believe Obama should announce immediately that he will not be a candidate for reelection in 2012.

Obama himself once said to Diane Sawyer: "I'd rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president." He now has the chance to deliver on that idea.

Balls. Big Balls
