Taking a page out of the Rosie Ruiz school of marathon running, former Mexican Presidential candidate, (kinda like AlGore!) won the Berlin Marathon last week. He even bettered his fastest personal finishing time for a marathon by over an hour! Way to go!
Well, sort of. Seems he got a little sidetracked in the middle part of the race. He missed several checkpoints in this 10 kilometer leg. Not surprisingly, he was running at a pace that was better than the world record holder who won the race over this stretch.
He ran each five-kilometer segment on record in an average of about 25 minutes, according to computerized timers, compared with about 14 minutes run by race winner Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia.
But between kilometers 20 and 35, those missing from the race's computer record, Madrazo appeared to run every five kilometers in 11 minutes, faster than the 34-year-old Ethiopian winner who set a world record for a marathon of 2:04:26.
Wow! He was running so fast they must have missed him at the checkpoints. When queried about the suspicious results the former first loser (kinda like AlGore) said ".....denied any irregularities in the race."
Yeah.......r i g h t.......
