Democratic Spin!

Well that did not take long...the fire is the fault of George Bush! and, and, and GlowBall Warming! Yes, in their never ending quest to blame everything on the entire planet to be the fault of George Bush and/or GlowBall Warming, the Democrats have weighed in. Those towering symbols of intellect and knowledge, Hairy Reid and Barbara Boxer, have opened mouth and inserted foot.

First, Hairy: “One reason why we have the fires in California is global warming,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Tuesday, stressing the need to pass the Democrats’ comprehensive energy package.

Moments later, when asked by a reporter if he really believed global warming caused the fires, he appeared to back away from his comments, saying there are many factors that contributed to the disaster.

Second, Barbara: On a related subject, leave it to uber-Democrat Sen. Barbara Boxer of California to politicize this fire. Today she issued a statement charging the Bush administration with responsibility for the widespread fire damage. If our National Guard units weren't in Iraq, she said, we'd have twice as many people and twice as much equipment to deal with the fire.

Truth is that the fires are a result of the yearly, predictable dry season and the Santana Winds. Happens in cycles every year. The National Guard...they are here. However placing 500 or 5000 troops in front of flames driven by 50-60 mph winds will only result in some crispy critters. More Guard would be useless, Ms. Boxer. If you want to discuss the use of guard assets, let's talk about the tankers sitting up at Pt. Magoo that are not being used by CALFIRE. Seems that CALFIRE has union contracts that prevent the use of "outside" resources unless the union approves. See, if the National Guard can put out fires, that would mean we don't need a huge goverment agency like CALFIRE and if we don't need CALFIRE then we don't employ union boys. It's all about the Benjamin's, $$$.

So there you have it, your Democratic Party in action. Never above exploiting the losses of others for political gain. Sheesh, you'd think they would wait till the fires were out.
