He gets it....

So I wouldn’t worry too much about the criticisms we receive. We make mistakes and at times the “carping” may even be on target, but it seems to me that we ought to look at a lot of the complaints as a badge of honor.

Go, read the whole thing....people are talking. (Hey, some are digging!) You should check him out.....

GlowBall Warming..

Damn inconvenient facts! How can this be....

Scientists from NASA say that Mars has warmed by about 0.5C since the 1970s. This is similar to the warming experienced on Earth over approximately the same period.

Since there is no known life on Mars it suggests rapid changes in planetary climates could be natural phenomena.

Paging Al Gore...there seems to be "...a flaw in your logic..." as WFB use to say.

Your tax dollars.....just spent millions, if not billions, building the new section of the Bay Bridge and the approach now lays in a mass of twisted steel and tarmac from....ONE TRUCK!!

"The cost of the repairs would likely run into the tens of millions of dollars, and the state was seeking federal disaster aid"

Maybe the real disaster here is Cal Trans........

Deep Thought......
I was a pondering….

Presently, we have consensus on the issue of GlowBall Warming and that is touted as the be all and end all of the matter. Case closed, debates over anyone who disagrees, like moi, is a denier, tool of the oil industry or just a general ingrate. Nevertheless, “consensus” is a good thing, we must stop it! (Well, YOU, not me, I have Carbon Offsets, see below)

So I am watching the subpoenas flying towards Secretary of State, Condileeza Rice as she is called to the House to testify, for the umpteenth time, on why we (i.e. Bush) went to war in Iraq. Notwithstanding that Congress said it was okay, (21 different ways) when looking back a few years clearly the entire WORLD was convinced, rightly or wrongly, that Saddamn had “weapons of mass destruction” and was a threat to the world. Again, a consensus of opinion, we must stop it!

Now we have the press, courtesy of Bill Moyers beating itself up for not doing more to get the “truth” on going to war. The Main Stream Media asks rhetorically, Why did we not question the consensus opinion?

So, I posit this, will we be seeing the same pitch in a few years when the MSM's discover the truth of Glowball Warming?

Perhaps questioning consensus is a good thing?

Again, just asking…..
It Had to Happen!

Got Me Some!
Get yours here!

Ummmm....
shouldn't they have seen this coming?

Alerted to an obscure state law banning fortune-telling "for gain or lucre," the city's Department of Licenses and Inspections is closing storefront psychics, astrologers, phrenologists and tarot-card readers who charge money for their services.

Just asking...
BIGFOOT print!

Whoa, you could follow the CO2 trail down to South Carolina as all the Big Democrats mosied on in for a "debate"! Nobody took a bus, or jumped in their Prius or even Jetpooled in their Gulfstream....No No No they were doing the work of the people and pollution be damned! Just like the do as I say not as I do crowd to hype their concern over GlowBall Warming and then jet off into the sunset.

Nevertheless, I am sure they only used one square of TP while on their cute little jets.....sure they did.

HOCKEYBALL PLAYOFFS ...
Round Two!

The Wings disposed of the Flames in the recent hack & whack series. Round 2 begins tonight at the Joe. Sharks v Wings ... Game On!

Betting Line:

Kahuna says Sharks in 6

Rumbear says Wings in 6

One of us is wrong...probably him.

GO WINGS!

UPDATE: Well, that sucked. Wings get shut out at home 2-0. I was stuck at a fundraiser and only caught snippets of the action. Slow paced game to say the least.
Lost Cojones

The Democrats in both houses have voted to approve a staged withdrawal from Iraq. Harry Reid has stated the war is lost. They have even sent out memos urging restraint in using any reference to there being a "war". That's how Democrats fight, Hit you, skiddooo!

You remember ole Billy Clinton, he blew up an aspirin factory in the name of peace. Won the battle, yes he did. Aspirin has been safe for a decade now. Yet anything that requires commitment, a spine, some will power.....well they are ready to skidoooooo....

Problem is, they can't run because that would look bad, might cost some votes or at the very least, require some leadership. So they want to jog towards defeat with a "goal". That way they do not look like total appeasers.
Joe Lieberman (ID) Conn. stated it best on the Senate floor:

YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS. YOU CAN'T WITHDRAW COMBAT TROOPS FROM IRAQ AND STILL SAY YOU'RE GOING TO FIGHT AL QAEDA THERE. IF YOU BELIEVE THAT THERE IS NO HOPE OF WINNING IN IRAQ OR THAT THE COSTS OF VICTORY THERE ARE NOT WORTH IT, THEN YOU SHOULD BE FOR COMPLETE WITHDRAWAL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

The do not have the cojones to put that to a vote. No stones as the British might say.
Well, whata ya know....

Fraud in the "Carbon Credit" Business. WHO KNEW!!! I am shocked, just shocked!

Companies and individuals rushing to go green have been spending millions on “carbon credit” projects that yield few if any environmental benefits.
A Financial Times investigation has uncovered widespread failings in the new markets for greenhouse gases, suggesting some organisations are paying for emissions reductions that do not take place.

I'm just speechless.....yeah right. More Boob bait for the bubbas as we move headlong to attack the GlowBall Warming monster that we have dreamed up. So it should come as absolutely no surprise that the mythical solution to this non-problem is fraught with ....FRAUD! Where's P. T. Barnum when you need him? A Financial Times of London investigation found:

■ Widespread instances of people and organisations buying worthless credits that do not yield any reductions in carbon emissions.
■ Industrial companies profiting from doing very little – or from gaining carbon credits on the basis of efficiency gains from which they have already benefited substantially.
■ Brokers providing services of questionable or no value.
■ A shortage of verification, making it difficult for buyers to assess the true value of carbon credits.
■ Companies and individuals being charged over the odds for the private purchase of European Union carbon permits that have plummeted in value because they do not result in emissions cuts.

Francis Sullivan, environment adviser at HSBC, the UK’s biggest bank that went carbon-neutral in 2005, said he found “serious credibility concerns” in the offsetting market after evaluating it for several months.

So we have the Goreacle selling himself "Carbon Credits" so he can light up his Tennessee mansion like a carnival ride and now the industry at large is in doubt. Gosh!

Dick Slaps Harry!

That's right, a verbal smack down from Vice President Cheney. I only wish Dick would take Harry along on his next hunting trip...that would be a target rich environment! Here's the text, video over at NRO.

I usually avoid press comment when I’m up here, but I felt so strongly about what Senator Reid said in the last couple of days, that I thought it was appropriate that I come out today and make a statement that I think needs to be made.

I thought his speech yesterday was unfortunate, that his comments were uninformed and misleading. Senator Reid has taken many positions on Iraq. He has threatened that if the President vetoes the current pending supplemental legislation, that he will send up Senator Russ Feingold's bill to de-fund Iraq operations altogether.

Yet only last November, Senator Reid said there would be no cutoff of funds for the military in Iraq. So in less than six months' time, Senator Reid has gone from pledging full funding for the military, then full funding but with conditions, and then a cutoff of funding — three positions in five months on the most important foreign policy question facing the nation and our troops.

Yesterday, Senator Reid said the troop surge was against the recommendations of the Iraq Study Group. That is plainly false. The Iraq Study Group report was explicitly favorable toward a troop surge to secure Baghdad. Senator Reid said there should be a regional conference on Iraq. Apparently, he doesn't know that there is going to be one next week. Senator Reid said he doesn't have real substantive meetings with the President. Yet immediately following last week's meeting at the White House, he said, "It was a good exchange; everyone voiced their considered opinion about the war in Iraq."

What's most troubling about Senator Reid's comments yesterday is his defeatism. Indeed, last week, he said the war is already lost. And the timetable legislation that he is now pursuing would guarantee defeat.

Maybe it's a political calculation. Some Democratic leaders seem to believe that blind opposition to the new strategy in Iraq is good politics. Senator Reid himself has said that the war in Iraq will bring his party more seats in the next election. It is cynical to declare that the war is lost because you believe it gives you political advantage. Leaders should make decisions based on the security interests of our country, not on the interests of their political party.

Flushing, NY, April 24 -- Singer/Songwriter Sheryl Crow today announced plans for a new tour of the US, to be called the "One Sheet to the Wind Educational Tour."

The Butthole Surfers will join the tour and open for Ms. Crow, according to tour organizers.

Part of the tour's proceeds will be donated to causes related to global warming, said tour manager Mr. Whipple."In addition to raising funds for global warming awareness, we hope to educate people about many things -- including the proper use of toilet paper," said Whipple, who also vehemently requested that people not squeeze the merchandise.

Topics to be covered as part of the tour will include, "crossing your legs, gritting your teeth, and concentrating really hard until it goes away," said Whipple.

The tour will be sponsored by Kaopectate, Depends, and the National Cork Council.Tour dates and cities have yet to be announced.

My Favorite Democrat

Huh?! Yup, Joe Lieberman, (ID-CT), of course.

WASHINGTON – Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) today made the following statement in response to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s comment that the Iraq War is “lost:”
“This week witnessed horrific terrorist attacks by Islamist extremists in Iraq, killing hundreds of innocent civilians and leading Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to declare that the war is ‘lost.’
With all due respect, I strongly disagree. Senator Reid's statement is not based on military facts on the ground in Iraq and does not advance our cause there.
Al Qaeda’s strategy for victory in Iraq is clear. They are trying to murder as many innocent civilians as possible in an effort to reignite sectarian fighting and drive us to retreat from Iraq.
The question now before us is whether we respond to these terrorist attacks by running away as Al Qaeda hopes – abandoning the future of Iraq, the Middle East, and ultimately our own security to the very same people responsible for this week’s atrocities – or whether we stand united to fight them.
This is exactly the wrong time to conclude that we have lost the war in Iraq, or that our new strategy has failed. Instead, we should provide General Petraeus and his troops with the time and the resources to succeed. We should not surrender in the face of barbarism.”
Precisely!
"Whenever I've seen one of those "Gun-free Zone" signs, especially outside of a school filled with our youngest and most vulnerable citizens, I've always wondered exactly who these signs are directed at. Obviously, they don't mean much to the sort of man who murdered 32 people just a few days ago."

Precisely! Who said that?! Why , Fred Thompson did. The best candidate not running for President....yet.

It Just Ain't Right......

Well thank goodness the nut ball shooter at Virginia Tech stopped off at the Post Office and mailed the package to NBC. How else would we be exposed to hour after hour of this nut certifying his level of idiocy without the willing dupes at NBC. Why is this allowed? What is the basis for providing a stage for this drivel?

This is the same network that cannot show us.....
-the beheading of Daniel Pearl because it might cause us to disrespect Muslims,
-the planes going in to the World Trade Center cause the sensitivities of the families are paramount.
.....or anything else that might provide a basis for the rage that you should rightfully be feeling against an enemy during wartime. But by golly, the Main Stream Media has a story and here comes the video...complete with their damn logo on it. (ed note: How did they become the "owners" of this little PR packet from the low life?)

So I will ask it again ....Why is this allowed? What is the basis for providing a stage for this drivel?

I'll answer my own question from above...Because it serve their purpose. It fits their agenda. It provides a basis for slamming the good ole USA. It really is that simple. There is no time for reflecting on the losses suffered by the victims, we HAVE to move against...[insert favorite liberal cause here]. They have a point to make and your loss be damned!

That's why you are being treated to the contents of the package from the nut ball. You will continue to see the tapes and fotos until it fails to fulfill their purpose or enough good Americans complain that it just ain't right.

Well, here's my two cents for NBC, stop, just stop, now....It just ain't right.

Then & Now......

There is an excerpt up over at NRO. After reading it I had to say "I was not aware of that. Remember the University of Texas Tower shooting back in 1966? Of course you do, the mainstream media will not let you forget. Yet, have you heard this angle?

He followed the class’s attention out on the mall just in time to see an Austin policeman gunned down trying to move students to a safer area next to the mall. A security officer came into the room saying someone was shooting from the top of the tower. We evacuated the classroom rather quickly. The hallway and basement were the safest places to be but I decided to go up to the top floor offices to get a better idea of what was happening.

None of the professor’s offices were occupied except for one whose door was open. As I walked down the hall toward that office the sound of a large caliber rifle thundered from that open doorway followed by two men talking. After all the bizarre events of the last few minutes it didn’t seem strange to me when I peeked around the office doorway to see one professor shooting a deer rifle at the top of tower while the other fed him ammunition. It never entered my mind to question why an English professor would have his deer rifle in his office complete with boxes of ammunition. This was Texas after all. Guns were commonplace. From the office windows, we could see the top of the tower clearly. Small puffs of smoke were coming from the rifle of the sniper on the observation deck. The large glass faced clock above the observation deck was shattered from others shooting back at him. The professor ran through several boxes of shells before running out of rounds. My ears were ringing.

(emphasis added)

Shooting back! That's the America I grew up in. That's the America I want back. Defend yourself. Join the NRA here.

UPDATE: Glenn Reynolds aka Instapundit has a good article out today. "People don't stop killers. People with guns do"..... Read it here.
Ismail Ax?

Hmmmm? Seems that the Virginia Tech shooter died with that phrase written on his arm. It is also how he reportedly signed the suicide "note" found after his demise. The New York Post reports:

The reference may be to the Islamic account of the Biblical sacrifice of Abraham, where God commands the patriarch to sacrifice his own son. Abraham begins to comply, but God intervenes at the last moment to save the boy.

In the Jewish and Christian traditions, the son is Isaac, father of the Jewish people; in Islam, it is his brother, Ismail (Ishmael in Hebrew).
Abraham uses a knife in most versions of the story, but some accounts have him wielding an ax.

A more obscure reference may be to a passage in the Koran referring to Abraham's destruction of pagan idols; in some accounts, he uses an ax to do so.

Atlas Shrugs has more on the perp. Seems a certain foto of what appeared to be him was posted on a website of a new friend with the quote:

He's a South Korean. Ismail is not his real name. He use it because his name is very hard to pronounce, especially for Indonesian people. His real name is Cho Seung Hoo ....... or is it Jo Sung Ho?

I am sure it is just a coincidence. No Islam connection here, just a crazy psycho killing folks at random......move along.

Curiouser & Curiouser....

Playoff Hockey!!

Well my team lost last nite. They played well in a hostile environment and that is to their credit. My bone of contention this morning is the referees. Now, I don't want to go off on a rant here.......but, Good Lord, what an inept showing for a professional sport. The missed calls both for and against the team I support are ridiculous.

Blatant infractions go unpunished while seemingly innocuous acts get time in the sin bin. At least one goal last nite was scored while the defender was held, no wrapped up, nay, embraced by the opposing team on the breakout. Newlyweds should hope for that kind of attention! Yet Mother McCreary did not see it.... It's time to lay on the VO5 and suit up Kerry Fraser for a few games.

Ah well, things could have been worse....The incredible MaGoo could have shown up.....
Time for some caffiene....carry on.

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul:He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name' sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;Thou annointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.

Amen.

"It's not about taking Imus down," Sharpton said. "It's about lifting decency up."

Al Sharpton lifting decency up?!! Well slap me on the butt and call me fanny.

Pat Buchanan weighs in over at World Net Daily: Whatever Imus' sins, no one deserves to have Al Sharpton – hero of the Tawana Brawley hoax, resolute defender of the fake rape charge against half a dozen innocent guys, which ruined lives – sit in moral judgment upon them.

What Imus said was wrong. He apologized and that, my friends, should be the end of it. Unless your an opportunist like the Reverend Al. An Article over at Salon.com gives a glimpse in to the Rev's modus operandi.

Who knew that such a race baiting huckster looking for a profit could lift anything except the bags of money that will soon be demanded to assuage the "feelings" of all involved. Lifting decency up.......Ugh! Watch for his next move.... because we all know that this will continue to be a "racist" issue until the cheque clears.....

Okay, okay...I'm getting e-mail saying ...... but Rumbear how can you work and not provide us withe the insight of the dazzling urbanite we know you to be? ........there is SO much going on...HRH Pelosi conducting Fore On policy, Imus circling the bowl, THE Duke Rape case has...been dismissied?

Stand back folks while I hit a few deep to right...

HRH Pelosi.... think Logan Act. GOOGLE it. No one will have the cojones to indict her, but the felony has occurred. No doubt she has had the staff (Her "Pretties"!) researching this for the past few days. The Republicans should not let it go away.

Imus .... a curmudgeonly statement from a ...curmudgeon! GOSH, what a surprise. The entry of those olde race profiteers Jesse and Al has only served to illustrate the hypocrisy of the comment. (HYmietown, Tawana Brawley, Freddy's Fashion Mart) And just recently The Duke Rape Case...anyone heard if ole Reverend Al or Jesse ("MLK had a dream, I have a scheme") Jackson has scheduled a news conference to apologize to the boys on the team...anyone?! Further comentary comes from our friend Ann...

Imus should apologize to the Rutgers women — and those women alone — send them flowers, and stop kissing Al Sharpton's ring. This wasn't an insult to all mankind, and certainly not an insult to Al Sharpton. Now, if Imus had called the basketball players "fat, race-baiting black men with clownish hairstyles," well, then perhaps Sharpton would be owed an apology.

RAPE! ... Well, not really. The Attorney General even went so fare as to state categorically that these guys were innocent. What a remarkable statement! He could have simply said that the charges were dropped for a lack of evidence. However, the available evidence clearly shows they are innocent. Mike Nifong should be disbarred and thrown in jail. Oh, and will Jesse still be paying for the "victim's" colleg edumacation? Just asking....

and I'm still waiting for the Rev's apology news conference... (crickets) ......

Please, turn out the lights!

When Da Bear migrated west in the late 70's there was a bumper sticker in Michigan that read, "Will the Last Person to Leave Michigan Please Turn Out the Lights". Well, no one did.

So with the lights a blazing and no one home, the Riff Raff found their way in. Having firmly ensconced themselves in this great state they have proceeded to turn the once thriving economy into a shambles. As a result of their leadership businesses are fleeing the state. Even the namesake of "Comerica Park" brand new home of the Deetroit Tigers is moving to , uh, em, Texas. The economy is a mess, the deficit is skyrocketing and the party in power has no clue on how to deal with the problem. Slash spending....nope. Streamline government...nope. Their solution? Taxes are in the offing for everything short of breathing. (No doubt it's being looked at) and what the heck...let's have some giveaways. Yes, having run up a $1B (Yes, BILLION!) deficit the Democrats (you knew that didn't you?) have proposed this gem......give an iPod to every school kid!

The Detroit News Editorial begins;

An iPod for every kid? Are they !#$!ing idiots?
We have come to the conclusion that the crisis Michigan faces is not a shortage of revenue, but an excess of idiocy. Facing a budget deficit that has passed the $1 billion mark, House Democrats Thursday offered a spending plan that would buy a MP3 player or iPod for every school child in Michigan.

If only someone had turned out the lights when they had the chance.......

GlowBall Warming,
Part 11990...

Here's an interesting link to a well worded synopsis that the enlightened readers hereof may find of interest. A brief tease for your perusal...

My interest in science doesn’t mean I’m an expert in climate science, so I have to rely on the evidence and arguments of others before I can draw any informed conclusions. I do believe that our technological capabilities will be a big factor in the solution, as I mentioned in this energy article—but before we can commit to a solution path, it would be a big help to know why the globe is warming, wouldn’t it?

A large number of people already have their minds made up; not only are they convinced they know “why,” but they also know “what we should do about it”: we humans are causing it, and the solution is centrally planned and enforced controls on the human activity and technologies that cause it. That message is getting such wide coverage, I wouldn’t be surprised if a majority of the general public agreed with it.

But if there is a majority, it doesn’t include me yet. Reason: I’m not so sure the “Why” question is settled. In fact, in the mainstream media, I think I’m detecting something Thomas Jefferson warned about:

The moment a person forms a theory, his imagination sees in every object only the traits which favor that theory.

Go over to the Skeptical Optimist and read the whole thing. Surely common sense can prevail over the Wingnuts like ...... The Goreacle.

It's Aloha Friday....

Find the Environmentalist!

This one has been knocking around the interent and even a few e-mails here at the Chronicle. Pretty much says it all

Check out the descriptions of the following two houses, and see if you can tell which one belongs to an environmentalist.

HOUSE # 1:
A 20-room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house all heated by gas. In ONE MONTH ALONE this mansion consumes more energy than the average American household in an ENTIRE YEAR. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2,400.00 per month. In natural gas alone (which last time we checked was a fossil fuel), this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not in a northern or Midwestern “snow belt,” either. It’s in the temperate South.

HOUSE # 2:
Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university, this house incorporates every “green” feature current home construction can provide. The house contains only 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on arid high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat pumps, which draw ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F) heats the house in winter and cools it in summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas, and it consumes 25% of the electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Flowers and shrubs native to the area blend the property into the surrounding rural landscape.

HOUSE # 1 (20-room energy guzzling mansion) is outside Nashville, Tennessee. It is the abode of that renowned environmentalist (and filmmaker) Al Gore...aka "The Goreacle"

HOUSE # 2 (model eco-friendly house) is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas. Also known as “the Texas White House,” it is the private residence of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.

Game On!

Only two games left in the regular season. Playoffs start next week. Followed by the annual trip to the Betty Ford Clinic of Hockey Withdrawal......... "HWS" (Hockey Withdrawal Syndrome) afflicts untold hundreds of Americans each year. Send money, surely that will help.

GO WINGS!!

THIS Should Be Good!

Former House Speaker and possible presidential candidate Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) and 2004 Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry (Mass.) are set to square off on climate change next week, their staffs announced Thursday.

No word on weather (pun intended) or not the Goreacle has given his blessing to the event!

"Nancy Pelosi's Foolish Shuttle Diplomacy"

My take on the antics of the Damascus Diva (aka HRH Pelosi) are pretty much summed up in this article.

"We came in friendship, hope, and determined that the road to Damascus is a road to peace," Ms. Pelosi grandly declared.
Never mind that that statement is ludicrous: As any diplomat with knowledge of the region could have told Ms. Pelosi, Mr. Assad is a corrupt thug whose overriding priority at the moment is not peace with Israel but heading off U.N. charges that he orchestrated the murder of former Lebanese prime minister Rafiq al-Hariri. The really striking development here is the attempt by a Democratic congressional leader to substitute her own foreign policy for that of a sitting Republican president. Two weeks ago Ms. Pelosi rammed legislation through the House of Representatives that would strip Mr. Bush of his authority as commander in chief to manage troop movements in Iraq. Now she is attempting to introduce a new Middle East policy that directly conflicts with that of the president. We have found much to criticize in Mr. Bush's military strategy and regional diplomacy. But Ms. Pelosi's attempt to establish a shadow presidency is not only counterproductive, it is foolish.

She willingly covers up her head kow-towing to a thug and sets back women's rights by decades. The Damascus Diva is an unmitigated embarrassment to women and our country.
Sheesh.......
