Why I'm Backing Newt Gingrich

For conservatives, I'm a might tired of the weenies who prance around on the Internet as if they're spoiling for a fight, then when someone with a little fight in them comes along, they start sounding like pussified Republicans. Oh, God, no, we can't have that go on!!

One of the Left's big advantages is, they aren't afraid of a little passion in their politics. They're also more willing to take risks. Well, there's a rule of thumb that applies, higher risk is required for higher reward. Look it up in your capitalist manifesto, when you climb down off your high horse and stop defending it, when it wasn't under attack in the first place.

I didn't start out backing Newt Gingrich. Perry was my guy. He's gone and you go to war with the army you've got, or you can sit in your tent and pick your ass, while government continues to grow and we continue the long, slow slide into statism that's been going on for almost a century, now.

It is inconceivable that we will see any serious Right-leaning reform from a guy like Mitt Romney. He may work hard at some things when it suits him, but he has no history of fighting for anything other than perhaps parochial interests when the current is seriously against him. And the current in Washington and the media is most definitely against conservatism.

Now We Know Who Was Right about Obama

On intelligence, sadly, the Democrats were completely wrong. Democrats swooned over Obama's suave self-presentation. They constantly cited his position as editor at the Harvard Law Review as an impressive qualification to be president of the United States. (Strange, but true.) Republicans who did their homework knew that Obama was not the first black, but only the first affirmative action Harvard Law Review editor. He did make history at the Law Review: he was the only editor never to write an article for the Review. Indeed, Obama has never written a law article on anything. Despite being given a job as lecturer on constitutional law at the University of Chicago, he is unpublished.

Journalists proclaimed him the most intelligent man to ever hold the White House. What does this great brain do with his free time? According to the New York Times, his favorite activities are playing Taboo, Wii video games, and basketball. It seems that the Republicans were right who wondered about a mediocre high school student who smoked dope and drifted through his early college years at Occidental and was an "unspectacular" student at Columbia. As Donald Trump asked, "I heard he was a terrible student, terrible. How does a bad student go to Columbia and then to Harvard?" Percy Sutton, former borough president of Manhattan, in a TV interview, gives one possible answer: Islamic supremacist Dr. Khalid al-Mansour, an advisor to a wealthy Saudi, paid for Barack Obama to go to Harvard Law School.

We now see the lazy student, the charmer in the White House, busy at what he likes best: golf, basketball, vacations, parties, speeches, and raising money. He has not been the policy wonk Democrats dreamed of, President Clinton redux. Obama doesn't do hard work. He farmed out his health reform to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, showing no interest or capability in formulating the details of the policy or even working the politics to get it through Congress. He famously didn't lift the phone to call Capitol Hill and get his signature policy passed. Obama's only contribution was nonstop speeches, which failed to win over the country. He doesn't seem interested in or capable of formulating an intelligent economic policy or foreign policy. He doesn't care enough to even try.

Here is a translation provided by the Associated Press of the transcript of the conversation between Capt. Francesco Schettino, commander of the grounded Costa Concordia, and Capt. Gregorio De Falco of the Italian coast guard in Livorno.

In the conversation, De Falco repeatedly orders Schettino to return to the ship to oversee the evacuation, while Schettino resists, saying it is dark and that the ship is listing.

The audio was first made available on the website of the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, and the Italian coast guard confirmed its authenticity Tuesday to the Associated Press.

A rant that I received....

SIMPLY AMAZING WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT IT

Isn't it amazing that, within only one week of Tiger Woodscrashing his Escalade, the press found every womanwith whom Tiger has had an affair during the last few years? And,they even uncovered photos, text messages, recorded phone calls, etc.! Furthermore,they not only know the cause of the family fight, but they even know it wasa wedge from his golf bag that his wife used to break out the windows inthe Escalade. Not only that, they know which wedge! And, each& every day, they were able to continue to provide America with updateson Tiger's sex rehab stay, his wife's plans for divorce, as well as the dates& tournaments in which he will play.

Now, Barack Hussein Obama has been in office for three years, yetthis very same press: · Cannot find any of his childhood friendsor neighbors; · Or find any of Obama's high school orcollege classmates; · Or locate any of his college papers orgrades; · Or determine how he paid for both a Columbia & a Harvardeducation; · Or discover which country issued his visa to travel toPakistan in the 1980's; · Or even find Michelle Obama's Princetonthesis on racism.

They just can't seem to uncover any of this. Yet, the publicstill trusts that same press to give them the whole truth!

I find that totally amazing, don't you?

WHERE ARE THE GIRLFRIENDS of OBAMA?

I hadn't thought about this - but where are O's past girlfriends - surely hehad at least one? No past girl friends popping up anywhere? Strange - strangeto the point of being downright weird!

OK, this is just plain old common sense, no political agendas for either side.Just common knowledge for citizens of a country, especially American citizens,who know every little tidbit about every other president (and their wives) thateven know that Andrew Jackson's wife smoked a corn cob pipe and was accused ofadultery, or that Lincoln never went to school or Kennedy wore a back brace orTruman played the piano.

We are Americans! Our Media vets these things out! We are known for ourhumanitarian interests and caring for our 'fellow man.' We care, but none of usknows one single humanizing fact about the history of our own president.

Honestly, and this is a personal thing ... but it's bugged me for years that noone who ever dated him ever showed up. Taken his charisma, which caused thewomen to be drawn to him so obviously during his campaign, looks like some ladywould not have missed the opportunity....

We all know about JFK's magnetism, McCain was no monk, Palin's courtship andeven her athletic prowess were probed. Biden's aneurisms are no secret. Look atCheney and Clinton - we all know about their heart problems. How could I haveleft out Wild Bill before or during the White House?

Nope... not one lady has stepped up and said, "He was soooo shy," or"What a great dancer!"

Now look at the rest of what we know... no classmates, not eventhe recorder for the Columbia class notes ever heard of him.

Who was the best man at his wedding? Start there. Check for groomsmen. Then getthe footage of the graduation ceremony.

Has anyone talked to the professors? Isn't it odd that no one is bragging thatthey knew him or taught him or lived with him.

When did he meet Michele and how? Are there photos? Every president providesthe public with all their photos, etc. for their library. What has he released?Nada - other than what was in this so-called biography! And experts who studywriting styles, etc. claim it was not O's own words or typical of his speechpatterns, etc.

Does this make any of you wonder?

Ever wonder why no one ever came forward from Obama's past, saying they knewhim, attended school with him, was his friend, etc. ? Not one person has evercome forward from his past.

This should really be a cause for great concern. Did you see the movie titled,The Manchurian Candidate?

Let's face it. As insignificant as we all are... someone whom we went to schoolwith remembers our name or face... someone remembers we were the clown or thedork or the brain or the quiet one or the bully or something about us.

George Stephanopoulos, ABC News, said the same thing during the 2008 campaign.
Even George questions why no one has acknowledged that the president was intheir classroom or ate in the same cafeteria or made impromptu speeches oncampus.

Stephanopoulos was a classmate of Obama at Columbia - class of 1984.
He says he never had a single class with him.
Since he is such a great orator, why doesn't anyone in Obama's college classremember him?

And, why won't he allow Columbia to release his records?
Do you, like millions of others, simply assume all this is explainable - eventhough no one can?

NOBODY REMEMBERS OBAMA AT COLUMBIA

Looking for evidence of Obama's past, Fox News contacted 400 ColumbiaUniversity students from the period when Obama claims to have been there, butnot one remembers him. For example,Wayne Allyn Root was (like Obama) apolitical science major at Columbia , who graduated in 1983. In 2008, Root saysof Obama, "I don't know a single person at Columbia that knew him, andthey all know me. I don't have a single classmate who ever knew Barack Obama atColumbia ... EVER!

Nobody recalls him.

Root adds that he was, "Class of '83 political science, pre-law" andsays, "You don't get more exact or closer than that. Never met him in mylife, don't know anyone who ever met him."

At our 20th class reunion five years ago, who was asked to be the speaker ofthe class? Me. No one ever heard of Barack! And five years ago, nobody evenknew who he was. The guy who writes the class notes, who's kind of the, as wesay in New York, 'the macha' who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, ahuman who ever met him."

Obama's photograph does not appear in the school's yearbook, and Obamaconsistently declines requests to talk about his years at Columbia, provideschool records, or provide the name of any former classmates or friends whileat Columbia.

How can this be?

NOTE: Wayne Allyn Root can easily be verified. He graduated valedictorian fromhis high school, Thornton-Donovan School , then graduated from ColumbiaUniversity in 1983 as a Political Science major in the same '83 class in whichBarack Hussein Obama states he was.

Why was Obama's law license inactivated in 2002?

Why was Michelle's law license inactivated by court order?

According to the U.S. Census, there is only one Barack Obama - but 27 SocialSecurity numbers and over 80 aliases.

WHAT!?

The Social Security number he uses now originated in Connecticut , where he isnever reported to have lived.

No wonder all his records are sealed!

Please continue sending this out to everyone. Somewhere, someone had to knowhim in school... before he "reorganized" Chicago and burst upon thescene at the 2004 Democratic Convention and made us swoon with his charm,poise, and speaking pizzazz.

Did you notice who Obama threatened when he wasn't getting his way onraising the debt ceiling?

He threatened to not pay:

Social Security Retirees,

Military Retirees,

Social Security disability

and

Federal Retirees

Now.. Let this sink in really good -

He did not threaten to stop payments to illegal aliens

He did not threaten to take frivolous benefitssuch as Internet access away from violent inmates

He did not offer to fire some of the thousands ofunnecessary federal employees that he hired

He did not offer to cut down on his or hiswife's frivolous gallivanting around

He did not threaten to not pay thesenators and representatives or any of their staff

He did not threaten to take benefits away from welfare recipients

He did not threaten the food stamp programs

He did not threaten to not pay foreign aid

He did not threaten to cut back on anything that involves his basevoters. He considers these to be 'economically criticalentitlements.'

The list could go on and on. He is in full political re-election mode!
Why are we allowing this person to destroy this wonderful country with hisselfishness and his lies?

Perry told the reporters that after his initial meeting with Luttrell in California, the two reconnected in Texas as the SEAL battled post-traumatic stress disorder and struggled to get off a morphine regimen.

Over time, Rick and Anita Perry - the parents of two children - offered him a spare bedroom in the third floor of their Austin-area home. (They still are unable to live in the Texas Governor’s Mansion since it was burned by an arsonist while being renovated in 2008.)

Luttrell’s bed was nothing more than an air mattress, the governor related.

Perry said he also intervened with Navy Secretary Ray Mabus to get Luttrell the medical and psychological treatment he needed. He ended up being a regular presence in the home for about two years.

In 2010, Luttrell established the Lone Survivor Foundation, which is aimed at helping wounded warriors return home.”

Also in 2010, he got married. And this past May, Luttrell and his wife, Melanie, had a son.

Skunked!

So, we had a bonfire with family and friends to celebrate the New Year. Breaking in the new fire ring in style. All was going quite well until Bailey D. Dawg found a skunk to play with. Talk about scattering a crowd! I spent the next hour sitting half in the hot tub washing the yellow Labrador with a concoction the Mrs. found on the intrawebs. Thankfully it worked. Wet and soggy into the New Year....

VDH once again postulates on the demise of this once great state. More particularly, the Central Valley and it's downward spiral into chaos. The water was saved, the crops are gone and the jobs....they left to. What remains is simply a roving band of vandals. VDH writes about the current situation in "A Vandalized Valley".

The state’s reaction to all this is a contorted exercise in blaming the victim, in both the immediate and the abstract senses. Governor Brown wants to raise income taxes on the top two brackets by 1 to 2 percentage points, making them over 11 and 12 percent respectively. That our schools are near dead last in test scores, that many of our main freeways are potholed relics from the 1960s, that we just passed the DREAM Act to extend state financial support for college-age illegal aliens, and that the overtaxed are fleeing the state do not register. Again, those who in theory can pay, should — and should keep quiet about why they must suddenly pay a 12 percent income tax that was not needed, say, in 1991, 1971, or 1961, when test scores were higher, roads better, and communities far safer.

There is, of course, a vague code of silence about who is doing the stealing, although occasionally the most flagrant offenders are caught either by sheriffs or on tape; or, in my typical case, run off only to return successfully at night. In the vast majority of cases, rural central California is being vandalized by gangs of young Mexican nationals or Mexican-Americans — in the latter case, a criminal subset of an otherwise largely successful and increasingly integrated and assimilated near majority of the state’s population. Everyone knows it; everyone keeps quiet about it — even though increasingly the victims are the established local Mexican-American middle class that now runs the city councils of most rural towns and must deal with the costs.

Fly Ing.

Today the South East Coast Editor went a flying and watched some people swimming. (Note to Arlo in Accounting: How much are we paying this guy?)

Wow, not sure how to start this story other than to say I rented an airplane from NS Aviation at HWO (Hollywood North Perry Airport) and flew down the beach from Ft. Lauderdale to Marathon, Florida in the Keys. It is about an hour and a half one way, the weather was perfect, the ocean turquoise, the winds calm at 1500 feet. I stayed clear of the MIA and Homestead traffic and just enjoyed myself immensely tooling along at about 110 mph.

As I got closer to Marathon, I switched the radio to the Unicom frequency (122.8) and listened to all the traffic from Marco Island, Pahoke to the Bahamas calling out their position reports....all quite boring and pretty much ignorable until a very calm voice says, "MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY, Waco going down." This chilling message on the common frequency is about as rare a hens teeth and anybody who flies know this is an EMERGENCY. I heard the pilot say it again when he added "position one mile south of Marathon." If you look at a map ( I knew where he was because I was in the landing pattern at Marathon) and he was in the water, with sightseeing passengers.

The airwaves got a little crowded with pilots and ground ops responding and somewhat cluttered with unusable chatter and guessing. I stayed out of the fray and when I heard, "they are all okay, swimming beside the plane," decided not to circle and rubberneck. I landed at Marathon and when I got to the FBO, everyone was a twitter with the news...nobody hurt, plane intact, resting on the bottom.

So naturally, I had an ice cold Diet Coke, visited the lav and took off for a look before I skedaddled back home....

Range Time.

Headed out to the local range today to try out some new loads I had cooked up. Got to P2000 around 12:30 and found a thousand or so others had the same idea. 2 hour wait on the 25 yard range. Skeet slots backed up and the counter was three deep. Who are all these peoples??

I have been noticing a tremendous upswing in gun ownership of late. I have to echo Gator about those who use this as a sport and those who seem to think a Visa card and ten day wait will make them "safe". Far from it. Get out there and take some courses. Join the NRA....check out their programs. In short order you to can be a Certified Firearms Instructor. Check out Gunsite Academy for some great courses.

As in, the South East Coast Editor went a shooting.

Going to the shooting range today....some thoughts about why Americans have and buy guns.

I grew up in a family that used guns for sport – competitive shooting and hunting. When I was about seven, I started spending summers with my grandfather and when we went to the range 2-3 times a week, it was from 8:00 till 5:00…..all day. We built up our own target backboards from 5ft x 5ft cardboard so we had many, many bulls and 1 inch center boxes to help us make one inch ten shot groups at 100 yards. My grandfather reloaded, making the practice rounds for range shooting out of lead, yes solid lead melted and poured into molds. A day at the range included eight or ten rifles, a couple of 5×5 target boards and hundreds of rounds fired, all bench rest, all day. (smile)

When I read articles about people crowding the gun stores, it is obvious to me that there are two very different motives. I never shot, reloaded or went to the range for personal protection reasons, I always was thinking of that big eight point buck in November after sitting in a blind out in the woods.

The fabric of our nation has always included guns and at first it was for protection against enemies. After the civil war and WW 1, civilians owning guns, at least in my family, was good clean fun and something that was fashinable to be very, very good at. Some families had boats, we had guns and shot on competitive teams at Camp Perry, Ohio.

Today, the bad guys are no more present than they’ve been in the last 100 years. The mood has changed about them however and I’ll be the first to say, with very high confidence, that if one of them comes within a hundred yards of me or my family, I’ll use deadly force and the bad guy with criminal intent will get the worst of it.

I am no more afraid of the bad guys (criminals, psychotics, terrorists, druggies) than I have been all my life and I’m damn glad I have guns and know how to use them. I am not in panic buying mode as described in the articles. New gun owners ought to take the time to gain confidence in their skills, learn gun safety and for god’s sake, figure out why they want to carry a concealed weapon and be sure of their intentions with deep conviction, not just because it’s fashionable or they saw it on some reality TV show.

Let's Talk Turkey.

(No not those two Bozo's....I just had to use the photo.)

Cooking a turkey is a lot like making a Martini....begin, and someone will show up to tell you how your doing it wrong.

Well here's how the Olde Rumbear handles the task around Rumbear Manor. Yeah that's right, moi. See, Mrs Rumbear, she does not like turkey......at all. Particularly the two in the photo, but, I digress...... from the festiveness of the post.

Turkey on the Weber

Use indirect heat. (that means put the coals off to the side) Go to the Weber site, they have rails for thecoals. Prepare an aluminum foil drip pan to go between the rails. This providesbasting stuff for later. Start the coals so they are grey when you place thebird on the grill. Use Mesquite if youwant heavy smoke flavor. Finally, prepare an aluminum hat for the turkey. Thisis a 8 x 8 inch piece of foil that rest on top of the turkey while cooking.Think warm moist breasts.

Still thinking? Get your mind out of the gutter,we have work to do.

Now it's time to prepare the turkey. Make friends with your turkey. Give it a name. More importantly, give it a bath. Cold water. pull out the packages of innards from BOTH ends. Flush with cold water.Rinse off all of the feather residue. Ilikes my turkey clean. Place the turkeyon a rack and let drip dry.

Grab your ingredients and get them lined up. In noparticular order:

Olive oil

Garlic salt

1/4 to 1/2 stick of butter. (yeah butter, get overyour bad self)

Chopped garlic. The more the merrier

Diced onion. The dried stuff work well

Black pepper

Sea salt

Chopped bacon (bacon?)

Now back to old what's his name. Stand him on his head. Yup, hold em by the legs and add some cubesof butter, garlic, garlic salt, black pepper, onion, and a touch of seasalt. I have no idea what a"touch" is so just add the right amount and you will be fine. Thegoal is to get the ingredients waaaaay back in the bird. Do not add all ingredients because you'regoing to do it again when the bird is laying in the rack.

Now place the turkey face down and grab some oliveoil. Pour it on the back and use yourhands to massage it all over the bird. Then flip the bird over and do the same on the top. Now you all slimyand feeling good. Put the bird in aroasting rack and wash your hands. Nowadd the rest of your ingredients to the interior of the bird. That's right more butter, garlic, garlicsalt, black pepper, onion, and a touch of sea salt. Next sprinkle some on the outside of the birdand rub it around to spread evenly. (our dog will love the crisp skin of thebird) Wash your hands and last, but not least, add one heaping tablespoon (isthat the big one?) of bacon bits. Throwit in with flair.

Now carry the rack out to the grill with the greycoals. place the bird in the middle ofthe grill, cover with the hat, and let er go. I check mine every 40 minutes or so. More frequently as the cooking goes on. I use a turkey baster for it's actual purpose to grab the drippings out of the foil pan and spread them on the bird.I cook a 11 lb bird around three hours. Use a thermometer to check. Youmileage may vary.

When the bird has reached optimumtemperature. Take it off the grill andlet it sit for 10 minutes or so. Carveup the bird and enjoy.

Tea Party champion Sarah Palin, who has already ruled out a 2012 presidential run, on Monday attempted to dangle her name anew as a possible Republican candidate, although it's probably too late.

In an interview to air on Fox Business Network's "Follow the Money" program, the 2008 Republican nominee for vice president was asked whether she would still consider a run for the White House.

"It's not too late for folks to jump in," Palin said. "Who knows what will happen in the future."

Redistricting

Every ten years the great folks that run Kallyfornia get together to re draw the district lines of Congress to alolow for adjustments in voter migration. Seems every time they do this, the Democrats wind up with more seats and the Repuiblicans stand gazing at their navels wondering what happened. So this year the Wizards of Smart had a new way to redraw the lines. Its was to be completed by Citizen Commission of local folks who had the interest of the common peoples in mind.

As this article documents, for the get go the Democrats set out to rig the selection process of Commission members and thwart any attempt at objectivity. Thus, once again, Kallyfornia remains staunchly Democrat with horses behinds like Pete Fortney Stark & Nancy Peelosi entrenched in Congress.

The question facing HouseDemocrats as they met to contemplate the state’s new realities was delicate:How could they influence an avowedly nonpartisan process? Alexis Marks, a Houseaide who invited members to the meeting, warned the representatives thatsecrecy was paramount. “Never say anything AT ALL about redistricting — nospeculation, no predictions, NOTHING,” Marks wrote in an email. “Anything cancome back to haunt you.”
In the weeks that followed,party leaders came up with a plan. Working with the Democratic CongressionalCampaign Committee — a national arm of the party that provides money and supportto Democratic candidates — members were told to begin “strategizingabout potential future district lines," according to another email.
The citizens’ commission hadpledged to create districts based on testimony from the communities themselves,not from parties or statewide political players. To get around that, Democratssurreptitiously enlisted local voters, elected officials, labor unions andcommunity groups to testify in support of configurations that coincided withthe party’s interests.

Thus, California remains in a perpetual state of ....suck.
